Instructions

1. Prepare Your Work Area and the Surface

If you’re using Gorilla Epoxy for the first time, or bonding a new type of material, we always recommend trying a test piece first.

Prepare your work area: It is recommended to use Gorilla Epoxy in a well-ventilated area. Be sure your work area is protected from spills. Gather your mixing tray and stir sticks so that all your supplies are together.

Prepare the surface: To improve adhesion, roughen smooth surfaces before gluing. Then clean and dry all surfaces to be bonded.

2. Mixing Gorilla Epoxy

Remove the black cap from the two syringes. With tip pointing upward, cut or snap the end from tip of the syringes. With the tip still pointing upward, eliminate air and ensure even dispensing by slowly pushing the plunger until both the resin and the hardener are at the tip.

Push the plunger to dispense even amounts of resin and hardener onto a clean, disposable, contained surface. The package itself can be used as a mixing tray. If you flip the plastic blister shell over, you can use the small well as a starter dish to begin dispensing until both the resin and hardener are flowing equally. Once the flow is even, move to the larger mixing well to dispense your even ratio.

Mix the two parts for about 20 seconds, until the mixture is uniform. Apply within 5 minutes.

As you mix, you will notice that the epoxy warms up. This is a reaction that occurs as the resin and hardener combine.

3. Application

After mixing is complete, apply Gorilla Epoxy within 5 minutes. The epoxy mixture will continue to thicken and the bond strength will decrease the longer you wait to apply.

4. Clamping

To reach maximum bond strength, clamp project together and leave undisturbed.

Important Cure Times:

  • Set: 5 minutes to apply and position.
  • Handling: Allow to cure for 30 minutes undisturbed (no weight or handling)
  • Final Cure: Allow 24 hours for load-bearing weight
  • Storage: To close, pull plunger slightly back. Wipe tip clean with dry cloth and align notch on tip and cap. Close tightly.

FAQ

What surfaces does Gorilla Epoxy glue?

Gorilla Epoxy is extremely versatile and delivers very strong results on steel, wood, aluminium, ceramics, tiles, glass, most types of plastic, pressure treated wood and much, much more!

Is Gorilla Epoxy waterproof?

Gorilla Epoxy is water resistant, which means it will withstand moderate exposure to water, but should not be completely submerged in water. If you need a glue that is 100% waterproof, look at our original Gorilla Glue.

What is the shelf life of unused glue? Any tips to extend the shelf life?

The shelf life of unused Gorilla Epoxy is a maximum of 2 years. The glue is not activated until the resin and hardener are mixed, so the shelf life can be much longer if the tip is cleaned after each use and the cap is put on securely. Make sure that the lid is put on correctly, so that the notch in the lid matches the notch on the syringe, so that the taken masses are not accidentally mixed.

Can Gorilla Epoxy fill cracks and voids?

Yes. Gorilla Epoxy is filler. It fills cavities and adheres uneven and vertical surfaces. It also fills cracks and voids outdoors, but can yellow over time when exposed to sunlight.

How do I remove Gorilla Epoxy?

Gorilla Epoxy is a very strong adhesive and is resistant to solvents. Removing the hardened glue is extremely difficult. Acetone can soften epoxy, but complete removal will require mechanical methods such as scraping, rubbing or grinding.

How to remove uncured Gorilla Epoxy?

Skin: Acetone, isopropyl alcohol, and 2-3 washes with soap and water. Note, hardened glue is removed mechanically, e.g.by rubbing or exfoliating soaps.

Hair: Isopropyl alcohol

Textiles and carpets: Isopropyl alcohol. Avoid acetone, soapy water and mineral-based cleaning agents, as they work badly on textiles.

What is the best application temperature?

For best results, Gorilla Epoxy should be applied at room temperature. Application at low temperatures will prolong the curing time, where application at high temperatures may shorten the curing time. Gorilla Epoxy's hardened joint can withstand temperatures from -23°C to 82°C.

Does Gorilla Epoxy need to be set and for how long?

It is recommended to tension the items to ensure the best joining.

Set time: 5 minutes to mix, apply and place.

Handling time: Do not touch or move for 30 minutes - it is recommended to put the items under tension.

Curing time: Full strength is achieved after 24 hours of curing.

How Much Gorilla Epoxy do I apply?

Gorilla Epoxy is a very strong adhesive and only small amounts are required to provide a strong joint. Our 25ml epoxy sprayer covers an average of 640-650 cm2.

What can I use as a mixing bowl and stirring stick?

A mixing bowl and stirring stick are included for your Gorilla Epoxy. Other possible mixing vessels could be aluminum trays, cardboard, or paper/plastic plates. Try using popsicle sticks, plastic cutlery or straws to mix with.

How do I apply Gorilla Epoxy?

Make sure all surfaces are clean, dry and free of oils. To improve adhesion, the surfaces can be slightly sanded before gluing. Remove the black cap between the plungers of the syringe. With the tip pointing upwards, break the end of the syringe. Slowly push the plunger down into the plunger until the resin and hardener are completely out at the tip, dosing the two masses equally. The packaging can be used as a mixing bowl. Blend for at least 20 seconds until mixture is uniform. Apply the mixture to the surface of the workpiece within 5 minutes. Clamp the surfaces and leave them undisturbed for 30 minutes. To close the syringe, pull the pistons back a little, clean the lid with a clean, dry cloth and put the black lid back on the tip afterwards.

What is Gorilla Epoxy?

Gorilla Epoxy is a two-component formula that requires equal parts resin and equal parts hardener mixed for activation. For best results, mix it 1:1.When mixed, it is able to adhere to an incredible number of surfaces and deliver strong results.
